Event Code of Conduct

GovRAMP is committed to creating a professional, respectful, and inclusive environment at all events, both in-person and virtually. To uphold this commitment, all participants – included but not limited to employees, members, vendors, speakers, and guests – are expected to uphold these standards and contribute to a positive experience for all attendees. By participating in any GovRAMP event, attendees agree to follow this Code of Conduct and act in a manner that aligns with GovRAMP’s values of respect and collaboration.

At all GovRAMP events, participants should conduct themselves in a professional manner. Individuals are expected to be considerate of diverse perspectives, use respectful language, and communicate in ways that promote constructive engagement. All participants should follow event procedures, honor the roles of facilitators and presenters, and support an inclusive and welcoming environment. To help guide this behavior, GovRAMP encourages participants to:

  • Treat all individuals with courtesy, respect, and professionalism
  • Contribute positively to discussion and avoid dominating or disrupting conversation
  • Use inclusive language and behaviors that make all members feel valued

GovRAMP has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, or any other conduct that creates an unsafe or hostile environment. This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Verbal remarks that demean or disadvantage individuals based on characteristics including but not limited to gender, identity, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, body size, race, age, or religion.
  • Sexual images in public spaces
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Harassing photography or recordings
  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Unwelcome sexual attention
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Compliance with all laws, event guidelines, and venue rules are required. Failure to follow these rules may result in removal from the event without the option of a refund. If someone experiences or witnesses’ behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, they should report it immediately to GovRAMP staff. If onsite mitigation is required, the GovRAMP Executive Director or Chief of Operations will be asked to lead such a process. Should a situation result in a formal complaint, the GovRAMP Executive Director will review and determine next steps.

Conference staff will help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We expect all participants will follow these guidelines at conferences and events as well as conference-related social events.

GovRAMP reserves the right to revise or update this Code of Conduct as needed to reflect organizational priorities or best practices. Continued participation in GovRAMP events signifies acknowledgment of these responsibilities and a commitment to maintaining a safe respectful event environment for all attendees.
