Why is Utah Engaging with GovRAMP?

The State of Utah has partnered with GovRAMP to enhance cybersecurity measures and ensure compliance with national security standards. This initiative underscores Utah’s commitment to protecting sensitive government data, mitigating cyber risks, and streamlining procurement for cloud service providers. By adopting GovRAMP’s standardized approach, Utah is improving efficiency, fostering innovation, and ensuring that cloud vendors meet rigorous security requirements before engaging with state agencies.

New Cloud Product Requirements

The State of Utah Division of Technology Services (DTS) provides secure and cost-effective technology services to Utah’s executive branch agencies. To strengthen cybersecurity, protect sensitive government data, and streamline the cloud procurement process, DTS has partnered with GovRAMP to leverage its standardized framework for security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring, helping ensure cloud service providers meet applicable security requirements throughout their engagement with the state.

The GovRAMP requirements went into effect on July 1, 2025. In order for cloud service providers and resellers to do business with the State of Utah, the proposed product must be GovRAMP or FedRAMP (Rev. 5) engaged unless otherwise instructed by Utah.
